Within the local vicinity of our UK housing you will find a variety of mini-supermarkets and local shops able to provide all the essentials you will need. Further afield are a number of larger stores (similar in size to Tesco or Sainsbury’s back home). Below is a little information, of course this is nowhere near an exhaustive list! Please see the interactive map to help get your bearings.
A small supermarket can be found on the ground floor of the Morale, Welfare and Activities (MWA) Save Centre. It has the essentials you would need, but can cost more than the local supermarkets. Some items (like alcohol) however are significantly cheaper. In addition within building L on JFC there is a small shopping arcade. Here a small number of boutiques offer everything from a gents hairdresser to a mini US style NEX.
A large supermarket complex with a few fashion shops, boutiques, small food court and an Electrical Store (Euronics).
The Auchan Centre comprises a number of chain stores, a supermarket (Auchan) with fashion shops and a small food court. Large chain stores include: Leroy Merlin (DIY), Decathlon (sports), Euronics (electrical), Scarpe Scapre (shoes) and a few others. NB On Mondays the stores are all on closed until 1300.
The US Navy base kindly allows us to use their fantastic facilities. Their shopping complex houses the Navy Exchange (everything but food store), Commissary (buy your steak from here!!!), food court, motoring shop (by the motor pool) and a cinema.
Campania Mall is reminiscent of US style malls. It houses a large number of fashion shops, a Carrefour supermarket and has a food court. Adjacent to the mall are a large Decathlon sport shop, DIY store, shoe store and across (the motorway) from the mall is the new La Reggia Designer Outlet Village (owned by McArthurGlen) hosting some 120 stores.
The many shopping districts of Naples offer everything to suit every taste and budget. For those adventurous enough to try it, superb Italian shopping is on our door step. Check out the districts of Vomero or Spaccananopli to name a few. It is possible to drive to these districts (but parking is often limited) or you can take the train, catching it from JFC or from one of the satellite stations.
