To assist with your arrivals proccess you will be allocated a Sponsor. They
should contact you and help smooth your arrivals process
and deal with the seemingly bureaucratic requirements of NATO.
The proccess begins by completing the Nominal Role Entry Form
(NREF) and returning it
to JSU admin. Once recieved the Families Officer(FAMO) will then allocate of an appropriate
Government Hiring for you. These Hirings are located in the Lago Patria, Varcaturo and Licola and centre around the new build site for the NATO HQ.
Please be aware that government hirings differ from the usual style of property you may be used to in the UK.
Allocation is approved
by a local Housing Committee (that meets as often as is required) who ensure that each person and
their family is allocated an appropriate property within their entitlement.
Please note there is limited housing available and you may only offered one
property. In addition do not expect to take over a property from the person your
are taking over from.
A wide variety of housing exists and it ranges from villas, which may be houses or bungalows,
semi-detached or detached, to apartments. Housing is usually grouped on small estates known
as Parcos. Some Parcos are entirely enclosed with a perimeter fence and have controlled entry.
The majority of villas are three and four bedroomed. Villas and apartments usually have
balconies and many villas, but not all, have large basement areas for parking cars and storage.
The majority of government hirings are located within Lago Patria within close
proximity to, the British Forces' School, Playgroup, Crèche and the HIVE. The UKJSU install monitored/response burglar alarm systems into all Government Hirings.
There are several ways of furnishing your government hiring. For personnel not
arriving under the Furnitures Movement Scheme (FMS), the Support Unit will furnish the property
to the items scaled in JSP 308. For those who decide to take advantage of the FMS scheme,
your property will be furnished only with a kitchen with cooker and a wardrobe per bedroom.
Note. For all married-accompanied personnel – other than a cooker, no white goods are provided,
this is irrespective of whether you come out FMS or not. The furnishings are of a good quality,
plain and hard wearing, and similar to the standard associated with UK married quarters,
except it has been bought locally.
