Import and Export

Direct Gov provides all the UK guidelines on importing and exporting a vehicle.

NB. When exporting your vehicle is just to keep your main documents and post just the export slip attached. This can then be used when registering your vehicle to the AFI system

Insurance

The two main car insures that are recommended here in Naples are:

  • Aurora

These companys are conveniently located close to the MVRO (Motor Vehicle Registration Offices) and are extremly famliar with the AFI registration process. There are other UK companys that can provide insuranse whilst in Italy.

Car Registration

This must be achieved within 30 days of arrival in Italy. This can be done through the Motor Vehicle Registration Office (MVRO). Registration of vehicles New or Driven to Naples.

The following documents are required for registration:-

  • Vehicle for VIN verification.
  • Privilege letter from Mrs Russo from privileges office, JFC)
  • Current NATO Registration document
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Italian Driving Licence Translation
  • Green Card Insurance (Bollo) (See provided Insurance companies)
  • Vehicle Inspection Certificate
  • Customs document (T1/302) or EX1

Re-Registration of AFI Vehicle

All personnel should be aware the need to re-register their AFI vehicle in the month of the anniversary of the initial registration. As soon as you enter this month you are required to make an appointment with the MVRO to re-register you vehicle.

The following documents are required for re-registration:

  • Fuel ration card (Yellow card obtained from privileges office, JFC)
  • Current NATO Registration document
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Italian Driving Licence Translation
  • Green Card Insurance (Bollo)  (See Provided insurance companies)
  • Vehicle Inspection Certificate
